I'm sure you all heard the threat delivered over the network. I, for one, don't care about the threats he's made to anyone who tries to stop him. I'm betting on the odds that he's bluffing, for one, and I'm more than capable of handling anyone who tries to stop me.

If it's all right, I'd like to take charge of our counteraction. I've got experience with explosives, and since these are controlled by radio, all the better. However, since there are multiple bombs from the sound of it, I'd like the help of anyone else within our group who's experienced with explosives or with electronics.

To the rest of Squad 5, I want you to take care of the evacuation. Make sure everyone inside the Game Corner gets out in an orderly fashion and keep a stampede from breaking out. Once the building is completely evacuated, I want you to help locate the other explosives.

If anyone finds them, DO NOT attempt to disarm them. If you can dispose of them without disarming them or setting them off, go ahead, but otherwise, call myself or another person on disarming duty.

Hey, I've been curious. Has anybody spent a lot of time in New Bark Town? I've never even spent a night there, and in my experience, most other people brought here are much the same. I was just wondering if anybody was more thorough in their time there.

On that note, I'm going to New Bark Town. I think the town is well overdue for a thorough investigation. I don't want any of you coming with me; the fewer people do this, the better, and I'm versed enough in stealth that I can do it without detection. Lately I've been thinking about it, and because of the distances involved in travel here, and the difficulty in getting a Pokémon to fly you places, I've decided I want to open up a travel service here in this world. For now, it'd only cover Johto -- until I can actually get some exploration of Kanto in.

Of course, with the number of refugees here, I'd never be able to handle this all by myself. So, I'm looking for people that'd be willing to work for me in that kind of a job. All you need is at least one Flying-type -- and if you're a trainer, a Zephyr Badge. I have the necessary HM, and I'd be more than happy to lend it to you so you can help out.

[Valentine's Day. This was a day for sharing your love with the people you care about.

...And yet one of the people here was in his room, staring in horror at the bouquet in his hands and the Furret at his feet.

Athrun had sent a dozen red roses to Rise for the day, only to find that Kanzeon brought them back to his room, then curled up around his feet. It wasn't hard to guess the meaning here.

One of the first friends he made here, and the closest friend he had made here. Gone. Unable to fulfill her promise. Unable to reassure him. Unable to cheer him on.

And to make matters worse, it happened on the anniversary of his mother's death.

It was too much for him to handle. So, he tossed the bouquet aside and scooped the Furret up in his arms. And, for the first time since he'd gotten here, he cried.]

[Another day, another repetition of the routine that Athrun has let himself fall into. He's been focusing on his job and his training, while waiting for the Elite Four to declare that they are accepting challengers.

However, as Athrun walks, dressed in the clothes he got for Christmas, something red catches his eye in a nearby window display. He looks over at it.

Hearts.]

Valentine's Day...

[That's right, he had forgotten. In the pursuit of more funds and more strength, he'd lost track of the date.

But unlike some people, Athrun felt a wave of melancholy wash over him as he realized that Valentine's Day was only two weeks away. It wasn't because of his lack of a girlfriend; though he wanted one, he wasn't letting that get him down. No, Valentine's Day held an important significance to not only Athrun, but everyone from his world. It was the anniversary of the third-most deadly attack against civilians in the history of his world, and one that affected him personally.

Athrun continued to walk, but he was unable to escape the Valentine's Day decorations and merchandise that was now popping up in stores all over the two regions. He just tried to focus on what he wanted to get done today and move on.]
