Sorry, but could I borrow a moment of your time?

Lately I've been thinking about it, and because of the distances involved in travel here, and the difficulty in getting a Pokémon to fly you places, I've decided I want to open up a travel service here in this world. For now, it'd only cover Johto -- until I can actually get some exploration of Kanto in.

Of course, with the number of refugees here, I'd never be able to handle this all by myself. So, I'm looking for people that'd be willing to work for me in that kind of a job. All you need is at least one Flying-type -- and if you're a trainer, a Zephyr Badge. I have the necessary HM, and I'd be more than happy to lend it to you so you can help out.

[ A pause as she thinks over the logistics of this. ]

I believe I would need the HM for this?

[ She's at least been briefed on Pokemon in general, but it's still a lot to take in... ]

Goldenrod! We're staying at a hotel there.

Well, that makes things a lot easier. I'm in the same city. Let's pick a place to meet.

Outside the Pokemon center, then?

I'd say that's as good a place as any. I should be there in about five minutes.

[worththeclub]

[ Thankfully, the Pokemon Center isn't too far away from the hotel, and she makes her way down there within a few minutes. She slips into the Center to retrieve her Dragonite from the PC and then walks outside, Pokeball in hand, and her starter Oddish trailing behind. ]

[And Athrun arrives there, exactly five minutes after hanging up. ...What? He's a soldier.]

I didn't keep you waiting long, did I?

[worththeclub]

No, not at all! [ Glancing down at her watch ] You weren't kidding about being here in five minutes!

Yeah, punctuality is something I picked up before I came here.

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a disc -- an HM.]

Anyway, here's HM 02. This will teach your Dragonite the move Fly.

[worththeclub]

[ She lets the Dragonite out of her ball, and takes the disk from him.

... And then kind of stares at the Dragonite. She's never actually had to teach her Pokemon any new moves before... ]

Oh, right. It's a bit esoteric, sorry. What you do is...

[Insert explanation here.]

[ And, HM move is learned! She hands the disk back. ]

Thank you! I've only just arrived here not too long ago, so all of this is still... very strange.

[Athrun sticks it back in his pocket.]

I'm not surprised if that's the case. This place functions on the rules of a video game more than anything else. It takes a while to get accustomed to it.

Yeah, I have. Over twenty-one months now.

Ah, wow! That's a really long time. [ Quieter: ] I... hope I don't have to stay that long.

... do you miss home?

...I do. My friends moreso than anything else.

None of your friends from home are here?

Only one. Right now, she and I are the only people from our world here.

I'm sorry, that must be really rough.

I've been able to manage well enough so far. Mostly thanks to some of the people I've met here.
