[If you look in the background, you might see what looks like the wall of a hospital. Athrun himself is also dressed not in his own clothes, but rather a hospital gown.]

I don't know whether or not word about what happened in the gym in Vermilion City the other day...but it came under attack. I tried to stop it, and I did manage to, but I couldn't stop it from taking some damage. I don't know what happened to the perpetrator.

I apologize if this holds up anybody else's challenge. I know mine has been held up, as...you might be able to tell. Don't worry, I'll be all right.

Huh? Who's that boy? [ Blinking. ] Are those friendship bracelets? They're clunky and ew, gray? You couldn't even get them in silver?

...Let's just say "future fashion" and leave it at that.

But anyway. The boy is Kira Yamato, my best friend. We went to school together in Copernicus City, on the moon.

Future fashion? [ Muu~ ] It seems like Miki wouldn't like living in the future. Even if it means performing on the moon...

Because if Miki was responsible for why Athrun-kun acts this way, Miki's not sure how to feel.

[Athrun looked surprised, but that look faded away to a reassuring smile.]

It isn't you. I swear that you're not why I act the way I act. So please, stop worrying about that.

Mm... you mentioned your best friend was named Kira? Is that the same Kira that Shinn beat up?

Yes. Kira and Shinn met on the battlefield...and Shinn won.

He said that it made him great to do that. Miki just thinks that makes him a bully, but what Miki thinks necessarily isn't what everyone else thinks.

...It was an unnecessary act of revenge.

[Spoken with a very blunt tone of voice.]

So he was being a bully, wasn't he? [ Huff. ] Miki knew it.

...I suppose that's certainly one way to look at it. What it boils down to is that Shinn let his emotions get the better of him.

That's what Miki likes so much about Shinn. He lets his feelings be known and doesn't allow anything to get in the way. He's not like you at all, Athrun-kun!

He also gets into trouble a lot because of it.
