-Athrun serves in the Orb homeland as the commanding officer of the Orb Pacific Fleet. This fleet is tasked not only with guarding the homeland, but also with all operations that may take place within the Pacific Ocean. Its main base is Onogoro, located in the main island chain in the central Pacific.

-The Archangel is also stationed at Onogoro. It serves as Athrun's flagship, although Murrue Ramius remains its skipper. It has been supplied with the proper equipment to service not only the Infinite Justice, but Mu La Flaga's Akatsuki, as well.

-Patrick Zala died before he could disinherit his son, so Athrun received the Zala family fortune after the First Bloody Valentine War. He used it to purchase an estate in Orb and multiple cars, but other than that he lives on a tight budget.

-Athrun struggles at cooking, but that's only because he has no training for it. He possesses the potential to be a good, albeit not outstanding, cook. For now, he sticks to TV dinners and quick recipes, or eats at restaurants.

-The one act that Athrun struggles with above all else is singing. He has no control over the pitch of his voice when he tries to sing, and his vocal chords get irritated easily when he tries. (As a bit of trivia, this is based on the fact that Athrun is the only main character who lacks an image song, due to Akira Ishida's refusal to sing after one too many criticisms.)

-After Nicol's death, Athrun kept his sheet music and attempted to pick up the piano himself. He isn't as talented as Nicol was, but could play it moderately well with practice. Unfortunately, piano practice is low on his list of priorities due to how busy work keeps him.

-Athrun and Cagalli did not resume their relationship after the Second Bloody Valentine War concluded. The conflict that they had been caught up in had caused a sort of rift to develop, and they thus agreed to take at least a hiatus until they felt they could resume. However, this does leave them open to starting relationships with other people.

-Athrun studied engineering in school, earned his bachelor's degree (for comparison, George Glenn -- the world's first Coordinator -- earned his PhD from MIT at the age of 18) and still harbors a passion for it. Rather than making robotic pets, these days he tends to keep an ear to the automotive industry. When he has the time available, he would like to buy and either restore or upgrade an antique car.

-Due to being Lacus's ex-fiancé, Athrun is familiar with the music industry. He understands the processes involved, but prefers to keep out of it. This even applied to when he and Lacus were engaged.

-Whenever Orb and ZAFT participate in joint military exercises, Athrun is always the commander representing Orb's forces. This is due to his familiarity with PLANT and its current administration.

-Athrun still tends to blame himself for the deaths of those friends killed in action. He feels he could have prevented Miguel, Nicol, Heine, and Meer in particular from dying. Meer's death weighs on him most heavily, because of her distraught mental state and her being a civilian. At the same time, he feels conflicted over Miguel's and Nicol's deaths because they died at Kira's hands, and he has forgiven him for killing them.

-Athrun regularly sees a therapist to help him cope with PTSD. Even so, he still has flashbacks to the worst parts of the Bloody Valentine Wars, by far most frequently in his dreams.

-Every February, Athrun takes a brief trip to PLANT. He makes it a point to be in December City on every February 14th, so that he can lay flowers at his parents' grave. He likes to meet with his old friends in PLANT while he's there, but it doesn't always happen due to their schedules.

-Athrun is a theist, but doesn't belong to any particular religion. He believes in the power of prayer and the presence of an afterlife, as well as a judgment based upon actions taken while alive. He willingly listens to Reverend Malchio's sermons, and his personal library contains several books the reverend gave him on Christian theology, but he is not baptized.
