Characters you have in the game: None
Character Name: Athrun Zala (real name), Red Knight (Superhero name)
Character Canon: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
Canon Background: Athrun Zala - Gundam Wiki
Omegafriends Background: Athrun's parents were the result of Cold War experimentation with altering the human genome, and Athrun inherited their enhanced genes. His father was an American politician, and Athrun's boarding school was in England. His mother was killed in an attack by eco-terrorists who were aware of his family's secret, and his father disappeared. With nowhere else to turn, Athrun sought refuge among the Omegafriends when they first formed, and honed his abilities, both physical and mental.
Shortly before the beginning of the RP, Athrun locates one of the bases of the same organization that killed his mother. Using his abilities to hack into their security system and move quietly, he stole the Aegis, an experimental power armor, from them. He now uses it himself under the superhero guise "The Red Knight."
Personality: Athrun is very much a person who lives by his beliefs. In canon, he signs up with ZAFT because he believes that Coordinators as a whole are under attack by the Earth Alliance, and fights for the same reason. Later, when the Archangel deserts the Earth Alliance, Athrun once again lets his beliefs dictate his actions and sides with the Three Ships Alliance. He does this despite the fact that it means going against his own father, because it's what he believes to be right. This still applies in the AU, as two of his motivations here are a strong sense of justice and a firm belief in his right to live as a normal human.
At the same time, Athrun is not content to pick a belief and blindly follow it. Athrun searches for the truth. He wants to know what he is fighting for. He has clear ideas on how things should be, and he will not act in ways that contradict those ideas.
Despite actively participating in two wars in canon, Athrun is a pacifist at heart. Kira constantly says that Athrun once told him that he despises the whole idea of war, and this is true. Even in this AU, he hates watching people suffer, especially now that he himself has had to suffer the loss of both of his parents. He will avoid killing if he can, but if not...well, considering the setting, that's not too likely to come up.
Off the battlefield, Athrun is somewhat quiet, but at the same time, mannerly and kindhearted, if somewhat cynical. Athrun himself admits he's not the best at getting to know people, but he does try. He's been raised well, and normally tries to carry himself with dignity. He knows his manners, and always follows them when he deems the situation appropriate. Athrun also loves to make things for other people; he made a robotic bird for Kira and a swarm of Haros for Lacus in canon, a tendency which will carry over into the AU with his talent for building things.
Athrun's manners especially surface in his dealings with women. Athrun always approaches them with a minimum of dignity and respect. But he's also something of a prude. He wouldn't imagine perving on or ogling a woman -- again, dignity. If put into an intimate situation he isn't prepared for, expect him to blush and turn away at the least. If it's particularly bad, it might even result in him freaking out and scooting away as fast as he can.
Not that Athrun can't dish it back, though. Even though he's very serious in nature, he knows how to tease others. It happens a couple times in canon, too. Sometimes it can overlap with his cynicism, though he usually doesn't participate in gallows humor. Just occasionally a dark crack pops out every now and then.
Last but not least, Athrun is loyal to his friends when it comes down to it. Athrun and Kira spent over half of the original series (and briefly in Destiny) on opposite sides of the war, but the entire time, each was hoping they could talk the other down and avoid killing each other. In AUverse, now that he's lost his parents, this still exists. He holds his friends and comrades in very high regard, tries his hardest to keep them safe, and would be willing to lay down his life to ensure their survival.
Powers: Enhanced genes - As a Coordinator, Athrun possesses superior potential compared to the average Natural. His reflexes are faster, his muscles strengthen more quickly, his endurance is higher, his immune system is stronger, and his intelligence is on a genius level.
Computer programming - Athrun is a highly skilled computer programmer, capable of rewriting a half-complete OS and decent AI programs. He's also an adept hacker.
Robotics - Athrun loves to build robotic pets.
SEED - Athrun possesses the SEED factor, which means that he can enter a state known as SEED mode. While in SEED mode, his reflex speed increases even further, and his thought process speed increases dramatically, to the point where he can perform complex calculations in a matter of seconds at most. He must will himself into this state, and he cannot do so if there is any doubt plaguing his mind. This will not be available to Athrun until later in his development.
Combat on foot - Athrun is skilled in martial arts, and he's an excellent shot with a pistol. In fact, one of his favorite counterattack methods is shooting weapons out of his enemies' hands.
Powered Armor - This is how I'm choosing to implement his Gundams in this setting. He'll start out with the Aegis, which utilizes primarily beam weaponry -- it has beam sabers built into its hands and feet, a beam rifle, and a plasma cannon mounted on its chest. It also possesses technology known as Phase Shift armor, which will reduce (or even eliminate) damage taken from physical weaponry, and has a physical shield to use against beam weapons. However, its source of power is a battery which can't hold out for extensive periods of time and needs to be recharged periodically. It can't fly, but it can dash along the ground.
Eventually, he will lose the Aegis and upgrade to the Justice. The Justice will have two beam sabers that can be connected to form a double-bladed beam saber, beam boomerangs mounted in its shoulders, a beam rifle, a shield, and a flight-capable backpack that can be detached and controlled remotely, and contains beam cannons. It also has Phase Shift armor, but uses nuclear energy as its power source, so the only limit on its operation time is pilot fatigue. With time it will also get upgraded, with beam edges on its legs and the wings of its backpack and a new shield, containing a new beam boomerang and an energy shield generator.
